Contribute to Cyclist No.1
What are we looking for?
We're always on the look out for journalistic talent to write for Cyclist No.1, both as guest and regular contributors. In terms of guest contributors, we're looking for one-off narrative pieces on unique experiences like epic rides, challenges or event reports. If you have an interesting idea, please let us know and send some examples of your work to contribute@cyclistno1.co.uk before you commit to producing a big article.
We're also keen to find experts in given subject areas to contribute on a regular basis. It might be race reports; perhaps you'd like to be a guest blogger; maybe you're an MTB skills instructor. Please get in touch on contribute@cyclistno1.co.uk and tell us more about yourself and what you'd like to write about.
What are we not looking for?
We're committed to producing the very best and most interesting content we can, so it has to be something people want to read about. A quick write-up about your local weekend ride around Thetford isn't likely to make it onto the site.
We're also not a consumer reviews website. We have people and procedures in place to make sure our reviews are consistent and fair, and we're therefore unable to accept reviews from our readers.
Any other requirements?
We expect exclusivity and only publish new material. We won't publish anything that has been published elsewhere, even if it was on your own blog or website.
Anything you submit must be your own work. We will also require an image to accompany each article (at least one quality photo of no less than 960 pixels wide).
Will I get paid for writing for Cyclist No.1?
Not right now. Every single person working for Cyclist No.1 is doing so on a volunteer basis for the moment. That's not to say we won't be in a position to pay a fair price for any contributions in the future, but right now we're simply not able to. One of our goals is to source and promote new journalistic talent, so we will be looking to incentivise contributing as soon as we can.
So why bother?
The cycle-related journalism industry is a small one and difficult to get in to. We offer a web-only platform which is much more accommodating for extra content, as there are no column inches to worry about. Contributing to Cyclist No.1 could be a great way to show off your writing talent and build your reputation.
Some of our contributors work in the cycle industry and writing for us can help to build a business profile too. We don't allow blatant, shameless advertising of businesses, but if you can write impartially about something cycle-related, and something that our readers might like to read about, then we're happy to give you that opportunity to raise your profile.
