The Very Versatile, Veritable Vélo – Win an Adventure Race Entry
The Very Versatile, Veritable Vélo is a four part feature which celebrates the diversity of cycling; and hopefully will inspire you to branch out a little from your staple cycle sport and try something new. Don’t panic, we’re not asking you to leave the bike behind, just pack a pair of running shoes, or try some different sized tyres for size! In our feature, the Cyclist No.1 editorial team will be getting into the spirit of things by trying out cycling-based activities that they in turn have never done. Gary's off to the nitty-gritty backstreets of Bristol for a session bike polo; Scott is off to ride the 'planks' in the velodrome; and Fi will be braving the more extreme way down a mountain by doing a downhill uplift day!
To celebrate the launch of this feature series, we are offering one reader and their friends the chance to win a free team entry into the Trail Plus adventure race in Staffordshire on 12th November, worth £145 (plus free Buff headwear for each team member). The race is part of their Adventure Challenge series. Teams race in threes and do a mixture of mountain biking, trail running, a little bit of kayaking and a mini obstacle-course. Don’t panic if running isn’t your thing, there is only 10km of multi-terrain running and not all in one go! There is no navigation required and the race normally takes between 3 and 5 hours. And the route takes in well known MTB destination Cannock Chase so the riding will be good too! Our in house adventure racer, Fi Spotswood, will also be on hand to answer any of your questions before the race and be there on the day to make sure you have everything covered.
The winner’s experience from the race will be written up as the fourth part of the feature-series, after Scott has taken on the track, Fi has dared to downhill and Gary has played some bike polo. To enter the competition, email [email protected] with your name, telephone number and answer to this question: What is the official name of the forthcoming TrailPlus Adventure Challenge event taking place in Staffordshire on November 12th?
If you’re not lucky enough to win, you can still get hold of your free Buff headwear for all the team by quoting ‘Cyclist No. 1’ when you enter any of the Trail Plus Adventure Challenge Series. So, what are you waiting for, give it a go!
The closing date is 31/10/2011. One entrant from those who have answered correctly will be selected at random, the winner will be notified by 01/11/2011. You'll need to be available for the whole event and be able to make your own way there. It is your responsibility to check that you can make the event and are equipped to do so - please check event info before entering. You must agree with the terms and conditions of entry and will be required to complete and sign the entry agreement before you can proceed. Entrants must be over 18.
You must be able to find two other people to do the event with you.
Please note: You can hire mountain bikes at the event. If you need to hire a bike, please note this in your prize application. There may be a hire charge.
