A Weekend Festival of Cycling - 9th/10th April 2011.
Sat 9th Apr: 09:00 – 18:00
Sun 10th Apr: 09:30 – 17:00
The second annual Mud Dock bike festival, Mudstock 2, will take place at Mud Dock, 40 The Grove, Bristol BS1 4RB over the weekend of Saturday 9th April – Sunday 10th April 2011 (hours as above). The festival is free and is aimed at anyone who enjoys cycling, whether that's riding to work, road riding, mountain biking, watching the Tour on TV or just talking about bikes.
The event will comprise the following:
Demo bikes from Trek, Scott, Felt, Santa Cruz and Brompton. Riders who wish to try these bikes are requested to pre-register on the Mud Dock website www.mud-dock.com
A series of organised rides on Sunday morning, both road and mtb. Each ride will be approximately an hour and a half.
A number of guest speakers giving 20-minute talks. These include:
- Peter Slikjhuis (SIS) - Eat right – fuel the machine! Shares the secrets of training harder, riding faster and recovering quicker.
- John Riley (Mylife Personal Training) – Finding Training Zones using Metabolic VO2 analysis. To train effectively and efficiently for fitness and sport it is important to have a clear plan. The Metabolic assessment can give you all the information you need to create a program that will help you reach your goals in the minimum time.
- Jez Loftus (Trek) – Correct bike fit and the secret of pain-free cycling. If you have any ambition to ride a bike to the best of your ability this is where you need to start. A proper bikefit will opitmise your riding position, eliminate niggles or help you decide on the bike that suits your requirements.
- Anthony de Heveningham (Bristol Trails Group) - Made With a Spade - building mountain bike trails for fun and no profit. Plus an update on progress in Ashton Court & Leigh Woods
Main guest speaker will be David Duffield (Eurosport TV). David’s extensive experience of commentating on all the greatest bike races on the planet will be tested at an informal Question & Answer session on Sunday morning following the group rides.
Simon Richardson (Sigma Sport- Specialized) will also do a Question & Answer session Sunday morning. Simon will also lead one of the rides for anyone keen to ride with the pros!
These will be followed by LIVE coverage of Paris-Roubaix on the widescreen TVs in the Café from 12.30-4.00. Both David and Simon will be able to offer insights into the race as it happens on the house PA system.
Also over the weekend:
- The Tacx Turbo challenge – a competition for all to see who can cover a 1km route over cobbles, murs and puddles (in the virtual world of Flanders) fastest. Prizes for the fastest man, woman and under-16.
- VO2 max testing from My Life PT at £25 discount over the weekend.
- Live DJs.
- Free Workshops – Basic Repairs.
- Demo bike fitting clinics.
- Sports physiotherapists will be onsite for free assessments and consultations.
- Win a Trek road bike raffle during Paris-Roubaix on Sunday. Proceeds to the Red Cross Japanese Tsunami Appeal.
- Exclusive special offers on a range of bicycles and accessories over the weekend.
Over the whole Mudstock weekend the Café will be serving a special Mudstock Menu as well as the usual all-day brunches, the ever-popular Mud Dock Burger, childrens meals and home-made cakes. There'll be a special £5 meal menu (includes meal and drink) served from 12-3 on both days and coffee/tea and cake for £3.
